Washington Township Council Meeting Minutes: Budget Approved, New Trash Company Starts August 1st
Budget & Ordinances:
The 2024 municipal budget was adopted.
Several ordinances were passed, including one for bond issuance to finance various capital improvements and another to fix salaries of certain employees.
Ordinances regarding stormwater control, solid waste, and recycling management were also adopted.
Resolutions:
Several resolutions were approved, including extending the tax due date for the third quarter, authorizing an online auction for surplus property, approving releases of maintenance guarantees for various projects, and requesting a toll reduction on the AC Expressway during Route 42 construction.
Reports:
Council members reported on the budget process and progress made on various projects, including the Spring Lake dam, Route 42 construction, and the Black Horse Pike revitalization.
National Night Out was announced for August 6th in Washington Lake Park.
Taco Palooza will be held on August 4th in Washington Lake Park.
Movies and music events will be held in the park throughout the summer.
Public Participation:
Residents raised concerns regarding trash collection with the new company starting on August 1st, overgrown open space, and a request for the township to maintain certain areas.
