Pitman Council Celebrates Little League Champs, Clean Landfill, and Fall Events
The Pitman Borough Council met on Monday night, recognizing the achievements of the 2024 Pitman Little League Minors All Stars softball team, celebrating the delisting of the Lipari Landfill, and previewing upcoming fall events.
The meeting opened with a moment of silence for Cole Kelly, the son and brother of a local family. Mayor Razze then presented the Little League team, who recently achieved the District 15 Championship, Section 4 Championship, and a 3rd-place finish in the 2024 New Jersey Championship Title. The team's impressive record of 8-2 and total outscoring of opponents 93 to 22 was highlighted, with special recognition given to pitcher Laurel Eisenhart for her 112 strikeouts.
Councilman Uyehara shared exciting news about the Lipari Landfill's delisting by the NJDEP. This signifies a major milestone in the long process of remediating the once heavily contaminated site and will be celebrated with a special event in early October.
The meeting concluded with the swearing-in of Kamal Johnson as a member of the Borough's Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee and announcements about the upcoming Chili Chowder Cookoff to benefit the Highland Chemical Fire Company.
